I've been passionate about photography since being given a Kodak Instamatic 33 at the tender age of eight. There have been numerous influences, some direct others indirect; perhaps the greatest was Tom Stobart, of 1953 Conquest of Everest fame, whose family lived nearby in Clayton.
I'm lucky enough to be one of those people who enjoy their work and work from home where I combine family & business life.
What sets me apart from other photographers is experience and professionalism. I've worked with digital imaging since 1995, and started delivering images online in 1999, whilst still shooting film! There are plenty of "photographers" with the advent of digital imaging, but few who have 25 years experience or knowledge to produce consistently high-quality results on time and within budget.
My clients regularly comment on how easy it is to work with me and on my creativity, innovation and professionalism.
My studio is based in a purpose built outbuilding behind my house, where I have a small head shot & PACK shot studio and all the attendent technology. For larger assignments, including room sets and fashion, I have local access to a large drive-in studio.
I prefer to work on location and all my kit is fully mobile. I have a wide inventory of lighting including Elinchrome & Multiblitz flash, Strand tungsten, together with Canon cameras & lenses and high-specification notebook computers.
Alongside my photography I also create & manage multimedia projects, across the full-spectrum including, design, print and websites. This is a direct result of my past-life where I was an in-house Marketing Communications Project & Production for Prudential.
Many customers have seen the potential for working with me on multimedia projects as they only have to deal one contact with the proven experience to deliver. A good example of this is www.checom.com - my client had been "let down" by a designer just as I started the photography, with a 6 week delivery deadline looming. Fortunately, with planning and past experience I was able to not only create all the photographs for the catalogue, but design it, produce the artwork and some dummy products, arrange and the manage the printing of 10,000 full colour 8 page catalogue - all for less than their original budget!
I've just started work on www.transact-ltd.co.uk which is an on-going multimedia project, including design, photography and print for a new entertainment industry removal business.
A good friend & fellow photographer, Bill Mutler asked me to create his website www.billmutler.co.uk, simple but effective and generating business.
